Started working on some ideas for that world-building thing I've had bouncing around in my brain for the past 5 years or so. Not going to make the mistake of saying that I hope to start working on it again, because each time I've said that, a year passed before I touched it again.
This was a bit of a trip to construct as it involves a pretty wide range of methods from the new volume cube feature set in Blender 3.3 alpha, to mandelbulb generated structures arrayed and deformed.
This is also the first project to be almost 100% open source. Everything was made in blender 3.2 and 3.3 and rendered in Cycles. I did some post-processing in Affinity with the old version of Nik's Software but besides that, all was done in Blender. Which is pretty amazing because to come up with similar stuff in the past I'd have to do parts in Houdini, other parts in Zbrush and render out in another engine.
I've done a lot of experiments over the past few weeks/months and this was the first structure thing that didn't feel compromised and which I feel matched my output when using the abovementioned combination of software.
Looking forward to working on more!
Will be posting additional work in progress and breakdowns at a later date. Or maybe will spend my time working on a new concept....
