After some deconstructed figures and playing around with meshes, points and generative connections, I decided to stylistically deviate to something else which I find pretty cool which is organic growth.
The growth components on the above figure are not driven by a particle system (though I will be looking into that in the future) but are instead generated through an interaction of two separate advected volumes :
1) The points masked out on the main mesh act as the points of origin for the volumetric expansion
2) The entire model is placed within a larger bounding box which has a curl noise applied to it
So, the 'growth' is essentially the disturbance of an already pre-deformed volume by another expanding volume. It's almost like the bounding box with the curl noise modification is acting like a negative relief form for a propagating volume. Which I find quite interesting and somewhat convoluted. Either way I quite liked the result as it ended up reminding me of Neri Oxman's research and work (https://oxman.com/projects/vespers-i) relating to organic wearables.
